Sarabi rolling on the ground

🌸 🍉 Dedicated to my sweet girl Sarabi  🍉 🌸

Sarabi is my beloved dog ! She's my first dog ever (my family had dogs, but I was a kid and they weren't "mine"), and I adopted her the 26th of April, 2025 !

She's a mixed breed from Romania, and was born a street dog. She was picked up from the street as a pup, and she spent 2 years in a shelter before I adopted her from a specialized organization managing adoptions from Romania to France. She wasn't exactly living la vida loca in a shelter, but she had no experiences of either man-inflicted violence or harsh living-conditions of the street, which was not so bad for me in the end.

Her birthday is roughly early February, she's ~ 3 and a half years old today (07/2026)! We live together in my 40m² appartment in Montpellier along with my cat Ablette, whom I adopted in May 2026. They get along very well. Apart from Ablette, she has another cat best-friend: Millow who belongs to one of my best friend and his girlfriend.
She also obviously has many many dog best-friends, which however is somewhat of a longer list :D Among them : Romy, Hopi, May, Sully & Perle, Taiko, and several others!

Sarabi is my most special girl ever, adopting a dog was the best decision I ever made and meeting her was a BLESSING. Like, it's hard to even truly convey how important she is for me. She's such a keystone for my emotional stability and she brings me so much joy (even when she's humiliating me in public by listening to nothing I say ever). She's an animal best-friend I'd die for, and I love to bring her with me everywhere I go : be it the bar, the coffee-shop, my office, wherever in vacations, in the depth of the countryside or in the busiest of cities, running together or napping on the couch. I love her.

Dog Log!

General education things !

  • Looking back at me whenever she's in doubt/scared
  • Being calm and delicate with humans and cats
  • No touchey whatever is laid on the tables
  • Barking is ok as long as it's for reasonnable reasons
  • Playing with humans using her teeth is ONLY ok with dad and no one else
  • Staying calm and laying down when we're not doing anything specific
  • Walking in leash without pulling ! She also knows her right/left
  • Sniff walks are fine and she's allowed to take in whatever smell she finds, but if I count up from 1 to 3, she knows we're moving at 3
  • Being an acceptably nice socialized dog with other dogs, even if she's a lil bit of a brute sometimes lol
  • The city is dense and vast, stay close to dad and be alert for when he asks something
  • Stopping before crossing the street!

Tricks she knows !

  • "Assis" (=sit)
  • "Couchée" (=lay down)
  • "Viens" (=come) but really needs improvements 😬
  • "Monte" (=come up) for jumping on the sofa, bed, on a chair, on urban equipment...
  • "Saute" (=jump) to catch a branch I hold shoulder level
  • "Pas touche" (=don't touch)
  • "Doucement" & "Attends" (=slow down & wait for me)
  • "Stop!" (=freeze)
  • "Fais un bisou" (=give a kiss)
  • "La patte" (=paw)
  • Better off-leash walking
  • Cani-rollerskates skills
  • Better self-control and emotion management
  • "Leg" trick, for her to walk between my legs (when we go through narrow streets for example!)
  • A little bit more obedience training in general

What do we plan on
working on :

Stuff !

Our things

  • Her escape-proof 3 points harness (as recommended by the association I adopted her from) can be found here. I Don't really use it anymore though, as she walks with me either attached with her collar only, or off-leash sometimes
  • Her hiking harness with removeable saddle-bags is from there. It's fantastic for traveling together, tha tway she can carry her stuff :D Be careful for weight limit !
  • Her cute collar with watermelon print is from there. They have a lot of cute and fun design, the quality is nice, and they're easy to wash !
  • I feed her this brand of kibbles and canned-food, it has a lot of choice, the quality is great, and the prices are nice. I don't think it ships to outside France though
  • I have one adjustable leash for usual walks, and one 5m lead rope when needed
  • I got a small lickmatt for her for showers (she hates showers, so I stick the thing against the wall with peanut butter while I rince her) and for making icy treats to lick at when it's very hot :) It's no miracle but I find it cool
  • She has a lot of big wooden sticks (from the park outside my office), small antlers, dry hide and buffalo horns to gnaw at. It's good for her teeth and it occupies her when we do boring stuff (being at the bar or at the café for a longer time for example)
  • I have a clicker, it's handy but I don't use it too often (we don't do a lot of obedience training, I prefer general education and comportemental work)
